Marine Services in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Our Fort Lauderdale dive team provides a full range of underwater and waterfront maintenance services for yachts, sportfishing boats, sailing vessels, and commercial craft throughout Broward County:

Hull Cleaning: Regular underwater hull cleaning removes barnacles, slime, and biofouling before marine growth increases drag and fuel costs. Essential in Fort Lauderdale’s year-round warm waters.

Cavitation Cleaning: Non-abrasive ultrasonic cleaning for hulls, propellers, and running gear. Removes growth without damaging your antifouling coating or polluting the surrounding water.

Zinc Anode Replacement: We inspect and replace zinc anodes on every applicable service, protecting your vessel from galvanic corrosion in Fort Lauderdale’s electrically active marina environments.

Dock Cleaning: Professional cleaning for docks, finger piers, and dock hardware to maintain appearance, prevent deterioration, and protect your waterfront investment.

Piling Cleaning: Marine growth on pilings accelerates wood rot and structural damage. We keep your pilings clean and extend their lifespan with regular maintenance.

Seawall Cleaning: Algae, barnacles, and biofouling buildup on seawalls can conceal cracks and accelerate erosion. Our seawall cleaning service keeps your structure visible and protected.

Lift Cleaning: Boat lift frames and bunks accumulate growth and corrosion quickly in South Florida’s saltwater environment. We clean and inspect lifts throughout Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront neighborhoods.

Why Fort Lauderdale Yacht Owners Choose Barnacle King

South Florida’s warm, nutrient-dense waters accelerate marine growth faster than almost anywhere in the US. Barnacles, slime, and algae attach quickly, and left unchecked they drive up fuel costs, degrade coatings, and put unnecessary strain on running gear.

Barnacle King was built specifically for this environment. Our Fort Lauderdale dive team uses ultrasonic cavitation technology and non-abrasive methods that protect your hull’s antifouling coating while delivering a thorough clean every time.

We also support transient yachts arriving for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) and vessels preparing to depart for the Bahamas, the Caribbean, or extended offshore passages via Port Everglades.

Every service includes:

✓ Real-time GPS diver tracking

✓ Post-clean photos and a written dive report

✓ On-time guarantee: if we don’t confirm within 30 minutes, your first clean is free

Broward boats mostly run a four-week cleaning cycle, and most of our Fort Lauderdale clients keep it on a recurring Hull Protection Plan so it happens without anyone chasing a quote. Marinas here almost always want proof of coverage first, which is set out on our hull cleaning insurance page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does hull cleaning cost in Fort Lauderdale?

Our standard retail rate is a $220 flat fee for vessels under 40 ft, then $5.50 per foot from 40 to 69 ft, $6.00 per foot from 70 to 99 ft, and $6.50 per foot at 100 ft and over. A 45 ft sportfish works out to about $247.50 per cleaning. Condition and access can change a quote, and a first clean on a neglected hull is usually a bigger job than the maintenance cleanings that follow. Full detail is on our hull cleaning prices page.

How often should a hull be cleaned in Fort Lauderdale water?

Most of our Broward County clients are on a four-week schedule. Bare gel coat with no bottom paint fouls fast and needs attention every 10 days to two weeks. Lightly used boats, and vessels kept up the New River in brackish water, can often stretch to five or eight weeks, because lower salinity slows growth. We will tell you which interval your boat actually needs rather than selling you the shortest one.

Do you clean boats at private docks and lifts, or only marina slips?

Both. Our divers work private residential docks in Rio Vista, Coral Ridge and Harbor Beach the same way they work slips at Bahia Mar or along the Intracoastal. Boats kept on a lift run on a longer cycle, usually around every six months, since they spend less time in the water.

Are you insured, and can you send a certificate of insurance to my marina?

Yes, and we issue certificates of insurance on request, usually the same business day. We carry $3,000,000 in total per-occurrence liability, which is $1M/$2M general liability plus a $2M umbrella, along with Ship Repairers Legal Liability covering damage to the vessels we work on. Every diver is covered by workers compensation and USL&H. Ship Repairers Legal Liability is the coverage most in-water contractors do not carry, and it is the one that matters if something goes wrong on your boat.

Do you replace zinc anodes during the same visit?

Yes. Our divers check anodes on every cleaning and replace them in the water at the same visit, so there is no second trip and no haul-out. Anodes that are more than half gone get flagged in your dive report before they stop protecting your running gear.

How do I know the work was actually done?

After-photos are included with every invoice, taken by trained divers on professional underwater camera equipment. You also get a written dive report and a live GPS tracking link so you can watch the crew arrive at your vessel. We keep your card on file and charge it only after the service has been performed and documented.

Do you work on megayachts and commercial vessels?

Yes. Fort Lauderdale is a center of the yachting industry, and a large share of our work here is on larger vessels, charter boats, and commercial and government-adjacent fleets. We are equipped for hull cleaning, cavitation cleaning, zinc replacement, prop work and running gear service across that whole size range.
